Locust Projects: Locust Late @ the Digital Innovation Lounge + LAB (The DiLL)

Intro to Touchdesigner: Creating Interactive Visuals for Performance: In this hands-on workshop, Trish introduced participants to basic nodes in Touchdesigner, a powerful tool for creating real-time interactive visuals. Particpants explored how motion and sound can be transformed into dynamic digital art using a camera, a projector, and a laptop. The workshop was designed for beginners and anyone curious about merging art and technology in their creative practice. During the live musical performance after the workshop, participants were able to use the techniques learned and have an opportunity to join Nicole’s improvisational dance accompanied by musician Diego Melgar. SYNCOPATE COLLECTIVE SUMMER SERIES

This workshop introduced experienced dancers to a motion capture interface and projection art. Dancers learned choreography by Nicole that was inspired by the interactive projection elements. Dancers were able to see themselves projected and transformed as they moved through the studio space. Dancers were then invited to improvise and experiment with the motion capture interface. This workshop took place at Sanctuary of the Arts.

DEERING ESTATE ARTIST IN RESIDENCE WORKSHOP

This workshop connected the community to the joy of nature, research, and exploration through movement and mathematically generated interactive visual elements, translating them into a new art form and dissecting what it means to be a Creative. This workshop was open to people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. It took place at the Deering Estate Visitor Center on July 23, 2023 at 2:00 PM.
